Is there a prayer of redemption?
Some simple verse
That I might sing
To cool the silent anguish
To chase these demons away?

Is there a chance that could be given?
An act of courage,
Kindness, or pain?
A simple path to lead the fallen
Back from where they first went astray?

Is there a dire price of learning?
A tragic debt that we all owe?
I’d always hoped that there’d be mercy
As I was taught so long ago

Is there a psalm of repentance?
Some silky spin
Of handwritten gold
To bring this worn and weary
Child back into the fold?
